Last week I needed a quick and healthy recipe and I remembered seeing this recipe on Naturally Ella and craving it instantly.

So that's what I made on Friday. I followed the recipe except that I added loads of caramelized onions. I've heard people call caremelized onion the bacon for vegetarians and I have to say, I agree. Bacon is really the only thing that I sometimes miss and even long for (I've been a vegetarian for over 15 years now), but caramelized onions totally make up for that longing.

The dish was absolutely lovely!! The sesame and honey give it such a nice sweetness, set off by the chile flakes and sea salt (oh yes, another addition: sea salt flakes). MrBee (who had made pizza for himself) laughed at my constant "mmmmmmmm" sounds, but after a taste he had to admit my dish was damn good and maybe even better than his pizza.

So on Sunday, when we had no time do get groceries, I took whatever leftover vegetables we had and made the dish again, but with couscous. The sesame sauce is a classic already....

And I'm sorry for not adding any pictures, but somehow the food disappeared before remembering to take pictures.... I guess it's only a good sign?

What are you listening to?

Filmmaker Frans Hofmeester (the one who also made these amazing timelapse videos of his children) asked random people in the Dutch city of Utrecht what they were listening to. The result makes me smile: all these different people with their own taste and preferences. Sometimes it's just what you would expect, other times it's really surprising. Also, I have to say I really enjoy watching all these cool hip people with their bikes in their beautiful city.

By the way, I would be totally embarassed if Frans Hofmeester would stop me today to ask his question: I have my high school reunion coming up this weekend and to get in right mood I listened to the backstreet boys, 3T and the spice girls all day.... I promise you, it's not my usual selection!

What are you listening to today?

Weeks and years

Lotte Time Lapse: Birth to 12 years in 2 min. 45. from Frans Hofmeester on Vimeo.

I know this video has been all over the internet. But I found it so moving I just had to share. Dutch film maker Frans Hofmeester filmed his daughter Lotte every week from when she was born to when she turned 12. It's amazing to see her change from baby, to child, to girl.
